Privacy
What we collect, and what we don't.
Santa Cruz HardTech is a program of the Santa Cruz SBDC. This page describes how this website handles your information. It does not replace the SBDC’s own privacy and client-confidentiality policies, which govern any advising relationship.
What we collect
- Account information. When you create a member account we store your name, email address, and anything else you choose to add to your profile or company listing.
- Content you post. Forum threads and replies are stored and visible to other approved members.
- Nothing else by default. This site does not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics that profile you across the web.
Who can see what
- Your email address is visible only to you and to program administrators. It is not shown to other members and not retrievable by them — the database blocks reads of that column for everyone except administrators, so this is enforced by the system rather than only by the interface.
- Your name, title, and links appear in the member directory listing only if you leave the directory setting switched on. You can turn it off at any time in your account settings. Turning it off removes you from the directory list; your name still appears on any forum posts you choose to write.
- A company listing becomes publicly visible only after a program administrator publishes it.
- Forum posts are visible to approved members. They are not public and are not indexed by search engines.
Third-party services
- Supabase hosts the database and handles authentication.
- Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server request logs.
- Discord powers the community chat in the members area. Anything you post there is governed by Discord’s terms and privacy policy, not this one.
Your choices
You can edit or remove your profile and company listing at any time from the members area. To delete your account entirely, or to ask a question about any of this, email sbdc@cabrillo.edu.
Ecosystem listings
The public ecosystem map includes some companies compiled from publicly available information rather than created by their owners. If a listing is yours, you can claim it with a member account, or ask us to remove it.
