Joby Aviation has established a 45,000 square foot hub at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport, on the AllianceTexas campus, to support electric air taxi operations across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The facility will host flights run under the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, working with campus developer Hillwood, Alliance Aviation Companies and the airport itself. Joby has not published a headcount for the site. Texas is one of the states where the company is standing up early operations while it pursues FAA type certification for its aircraft. The local significance is in the pattern rather than the announcement. Joby designs and engineers in Santa Cruz, manufactures at Marina, and is now building operational infrastructure in other states. That is what a Santa Cruz company scaling nationally looks like from the inside, and it is the trajectory several smaller hardware companies in the county are trying to plot a route towards.
